Rob Tate Family Homes Pty Ltd was judged the winner of the North Coast Green Smart Energy Efficiency category at the annual Bunnings HIA Regional Housing Awards, in Coffs Harbour on Saturday night. (August 13)

Judges said the Rob Tate project was an excellent example of energy efficiency. “The light colour metal roof provides the ideal reflective result, along with the significant benefits of insulation in ceilings and walls,” they said.

“The slimline fluorescent lamps and LED lighting promotes much lower power consumption.

“Ideal appliance choice and appropriate passive design principles further promote the energy savings of this home.”

HIA is Australia’s peak building body representing more than 40,000 builders, suppliers and trade contractors. The industry is responsible for development projects, new homes, renovations and additions worth about $43 billion each year, generating about 350,000 jobs.

HIA’s awards acknowledge the excellence in housing construction, design, innovation and technology and recognise the talent of builders and building companies which plan and construct quality housing.
